Jaeger Le Coultre
Founded in 1863 by Antoine Le Coultre, “Jaeger Le Coultre” has become one of the most prestigious and reputable brands in luxury Swiss watchmaking history. Maker of both watches and clocks, the brand is based in Le Sentier, in the Swiss mountains. Jaeger Le Coultre has designed and produced over a thousand of its own calibre’s and hold the record for the world’s smallest movement, with the calibre 101. The brand is home to some of the world’s most complicated timepieces ever produced and is very much one of the best when using artisan techniques, such as enameling and engraving. One of the brand's most famous designs is their unique and classic “Reverso” watch. Designed in the early part of the twentieth century, the brand was set the task of creating a watch for British Army officers based in India that could withstand the challenges of Polo playing. Needing to be robust enough to take a hit from a polo mallet, the unique swivel design was born. Allowing the wearer to turn the watch and protect the fragile glass, the Reverso became the world’s first wearable sports watch, while also being elegant and classic in its design.
