In the 1930's the brand was set a challenge to create practiaclly teh worlds first true sports watch. The idea came from the british millitary who were based in India, needing a watch that could stand the punishment of Polo games and being hit with a mallet. The Reverso shows its classic art deco design with its design and style. Over recent years the design has been perfected and grown in size and numerous new calibre designs and complications have been added.
Some of the more unique and limited edition Reverso also utiliesed the artisan work of the emanellers. This can be shown today in the Reverso a Eclipse watches.
This particuler Reverso A Eclipse is a limited edition 2/5 watches. Designed honouring some of the worlds most celebrated artists this model was dedicated to Pierre Augustine Renior's 1897 painting named "Sleeping woman". The watch is held in an all platinum rectangular swivel case, held on a genuine blue alligator strap with matching platinum buckle. Mechanical hand wound movement. The dial is made in two parts, first is the unique platinum shutter dial with transferred arabic numerals, operated by a wheel on the outside of the case (unique to JLC) it reveals the Renoir inspired enamel dial beneath. Finished with a sapphrie crystal glass. A truly unique and rare piece.
