In 1989 Patek Philippe celebrated their 150th anniversary. To commemorate this, the brand created a selection of limited edition timepieces. The most famous of these was the Caliber 89 pocket watch, which is still to this day one of the most complicated and sought after pieces Patek have ever made. Also in the commemorative collection, was this particular timepiece. The Patek Philippe ref: 3969 jump hour. There were 500 in the series, 450 in rose gold and 50 in platinum. The smooth tonneau-shaped case pays tribute to the 1920’s-era jump hour wrist watches, which Patek Philippe had introduced in to their collection at this time. This particular model is the 2969R-001. Made in all 18ct rose gold with an engraved solid gold caseback with inscription: “Patek Philippe Geneve 150e Anniversaire 1839-1989. Held on a genuine brown alligator strap with matching folding clasp, fitted with a mechanical hand-wound Patek Philippe caliber 215 HG movement with digital jump hour and separate minute hand. This jump hour, limited edition, has a silver dial with transferred minute track and numerals, Breguet minute hand and white aperture hour window. finished with a sapphire crystal glass.
