As the story goes a Portuguese sailor came to IWC asking whether they could make a pocket watch that could fit on the wrist. The Portugieser was born. Many years on the range has evolved in to many different designs. The range has become synonymous with class and elegance, which paved the way for over sized watch designs and trends. This very rare and exquisite example was launched after the success of the more traditional Portugieser chronograph and based on the same design as the automatic 7 day power reserve model. The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Stainless steel Limited edition watch, made in all stainless steel and limited to 500 pieces, it is held on a black alligator strap with stainless steel gold folding clasp. Fitted with a highly complicated and decorated IWC calibre 51613 mechanical self-winding perpetual calendar movement. Functions include day, date, month, year, power reserve and phases of the moon in both northern and southern hemispheres. All controlled by a single setting of the crown. The dial is silver with applied steel numerals and finished with a sapphire crystal glass and case back.
