As legend is told a Portuguese sailor came to IWC asking whether they could make a pocket watch that could fit on the wrist. The Portuguese was born. Many years on the range has evolved in to many different designs. The range has become synonymous with class and elegance, which paved the way for oversized watch designs and trends.
This very rare and exquisite example was launched after the success of the more traditional Portuguese chronograph and based on the same design as the automatic 7 day power reserve model. The Portuguese Perpetual Limited edition watch, made in all platinum and limited to 250 pieces, it is held on a black alligator strap with a platinum folding clasp. Fitted with a highly complicated and decorated IWC calibre 51613 mechanical self-winding perpetual calendar movement. Functions include day, date, month, year, power reserve and phases of the moon in both northern and southern hemispheres. All controlled by a single setting of the crown. The dial is white with applied gold Arabic numerals and finished with a sapphire crystal glass and case back.
