In 1959 a Swiss patent for time zone watches is awarded to Patek Philippe and in 1999 a new Swiss patent is awarded for a unique mechanism enabling the user, when changing time zones, to correct all the displays collectively by the single push of a button, without affecting the rate accuracy of the movement. This new patented system is exclusive to Patek Philippe’s World Time watches. Replacing the very popular ref 5130 case, the new ref: 5230 World Time. On July 13th 2017 Patek Philippe opened their doors to the Art of Watches Grand Exhibition in New York City. Similar to the Watch Art exhibition held in London in 2015, The Art of Watches exhibition showcased the brand with its special relationship to the America’s. Within the exhibition Patek Philippe launched a special series of watches ranging from a steel pilots watch, to a grand complication minute repeater. Never previously offered to market, we are delighted to offer the ref: 5230G-010 Limited Edition NYC. Made in an all 18ct white gold case with sapphire crystal glass caseback. Held on a genuine black alligator strap with matching white gold folding clasp. Fitted with the highly decorated and complicated manufacture calibre 240 HU movement with 24 hour time zone features and single pusher operation, white dial with a special blue guilloche centre with an image of the NYC skyline, with transferred world cities and detailing.
