In 1959 a Swiss patent for time zone watches is awarded to Patek Philippe and in 1999 a new Swiss patent is awarded for a unique mechanism enabling the user, when changing time zones, to correct all the displays collectively by the single push of a button, without affecting the rate accuracy of the movement. This new patented system is exclusive to Patek Philippe’s World Time watches. Replacing the very popular ref 5130 case, the new 5230 World Time. Made in an all 18ct rose gold case with sapphire crystal glass case back, held on a genuine brown alligator strap with matching rose gold folding clasp, fitted with the highly decorated and complicated manufacture caliber 240 HU movement with 24 hour time zone features and single pusher operation, white dial with grey guilloche center and transferred world cities. Finished with a sapphire crystal glass.
